What is ‘Reverse Engineering’?
The ‘Reverse Engineering’ application can be used to re-create a digital model of the physical object, from this a series of engineering drawings can be created. These drawings can then be used to manufacture the object as a ‘like for like’ replacement or the item can be modified at the drawing stage and re-engineered.

There are various ways to reverse engineer. One option is to physically measure using traditional methods. This can be time consuming and has  alow level of accuracy, often resulting in mistakes being made. Another option is to use 3D laser scanning. This will speed up data collection, and has a higher level of accuracy. This information can be imported into the latest software, where the component is engineered. The data can then be sent direct to a 3D printer or CNC machine where the exact replica will be produced.

What is Reverse Engineering 3D Laser Scanning? 
To take an existing item or piece of equipment, laser scan and have the ability to recreate that piece in a 3D environment where fabrication drawings can be generated.

3D laser scanning is becoming the industry standard for the collection of data. The laser scanner collects data, with high levels of accuracy. All this information can be used solely for measurements within free software, or can be converted into engineering drawings for issue.

What can Pembrokeshire Design offer.?
Having gained experience using terrestrial 3D laser scanners, we are able to demonstrate to our clients the cost savings benefits by using laser scanning within their project scope.

In March 2016 our company purchased a hand held laser scanner, enabling us to respond to our clients needs promptly. it is a state of the art piece of equipment’s which also includes data registration software, we are able to gain accurate information and start modelling it as soon as possible.

Once all the data has been collected we can interrogate the point cloud image in CAD and begin the reverse engineering process.
